Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to consult with an Ayurvedic doctor first before booking a treatment?
You don’t need a consultation for a simple wellness booking. We recommend one if you have recurrent sinus problems, migraines, chronic respiratory symptoms, or if you are a child, an older client or have a significant medical history.
What is the difference between Ayurvedic treatments and a regular massage?
Ayurvedic treatment centres on warm herbal oil, applied in flowing, rhythmic strokes designed to balance your body and nervous system. Compared with Thai or Shiatsu massage, it leans far more heavily on oil and nurturing touch, and it isn’t built around deep-tissue work.
Do I need to know my dosha before booking an Ayurvedic treatment?
You can book an Ayurvedic treatment purely for relaxation without knowing your dosha first. Our therapist selects a suitable oil for you based on the form you complete before treatment. If you have ongoing health concerns or want a clinical treatment plan, we recommend seeing our doctor beforehand.
What are the ailments that can be treated by Ayurvedic treatments?
Ayurvedic treatment packages suit people wanting more than a single massage session. Depending on the package you choose, they can support deep relaxation, stress reduction, refreshing sleep, muscular recovery, body stimulation, skin exfoliation, low energy and an overall feeling of restoration.
Can I have Ayurvedic treatments even if I'm pregnant or have allergies?
Pregnancy requires an individual assessment, since it may limit which treatments and oils suit you. We generally only consider massage after your first trimester, and only with approval from your maternity care provider, so speak with our team before you book.
Please also disclose every known allergy when you book, and again before your treatment. This lets our therapist check ingredients, offer an alternative or advise against treatment if there’s any concern. Never proceed with an oil that has caused you a reaction before.
Do I need to undress during the treatment?
You undress only to your comfort level, and you remain securely draped throughout. If your session focuses on the head, hands or feet, you may need to undress far less.
How will I feel after each Ayurvedic treatment?
Most people feel calmer and more grounded after just one session.
How often should I come to see results?
How often you should come depends on your symptoms and the purpose of your treatment. Some people book a single seasonal treatment, while others benefit from a short series or a full Panchakarma program. Our doctor can recommend a schedule tailored to you.
Should I avoid heavy meals before taking an Ayurvedic treatment?
A light meal is fine, but avoid a heavy meal for about one to two hours before your treatment. Arrive hydrated, without feeling overly full.
When can I shower afterward?
Where practical, we recommend waiting about 1.5 to 2 hours before you shower. Our Ayurvedic doctor gives further guidance depending on your package, your skin and the oils used.
