Frequently Asked Questions

What is Champi?

Champi is a traditional Indian head massage that goes beyond your scalp. We apply warm herbal oil across your scalp, head, face, neck and shoulders as one continuous treatment.

It reaches beyond your scalp. The treatment covers your neck, shoulders and face, working on Ayurvedic marma points so your upper body and nervous system can settle.

Our Champi treatment draws on Ayurvedic principles, using warm herbal oils and focusing on marma points and traditional energy centres. This sets it apart from a typical Western-style Indian head massage. It aims for more than muscle relaxation. The treatment also targets a grounded, quiet mind and nourished scalp.

Yes, it’s a great starting point. Champi is shorter than most treatments, feels approachable, and does not require a full-body session, making it an easy way to try Ayurveda for the first time.

You typically stay seated for your Indian head massage, especially during the head, neck and shoulder work. If you combine Champi with another treatment, your position may change.

Champi works well as a standalone treatment. It also pairs with Abhyanga, Shirodhara or our wellness packages if you want a longer, more immersive experience.

We recommend not washing your hair for at least one to two hours after your Indian head massage so the oil can continue nourishing your scalp and hair.

We use traditional Ayurvedic herbal oils in every Champi treatment, chosen to regulate your nervous system. Let our team know about any allergies before you start, and we’ll adjust the oil to suit you.

No, you stay fully clothed for your Indian head massage, though your therapist needs easy access to your neck and shoulders. Wear a loose or open-necked top as it may pick up some oil during the treatment.
